New Country Director for Botswana

We have been in Botswana for four months. Prior to our arrival, the previous Country Director, Peggy McClure, left to take the position of Country Director for Morocco. In Peggy’s absence, the Program Director, Heather Robinson, had stepped in and was Acting Country Director until the new director arrived. He arrived a few weeks ago.

The new Country Director for Peace Corps Botswana is Tim Hartman. Tim is a returned Peace Corps volunteer who served in Cameroon (West Africa) from 1986-89.

Tim’s resume is impressive. Most recently, he served as president and chief operating officer of BroadReach Healthcare’s Global Health division. He has also worked for Computer Science Corporation’s Global Health Solutions Group and APM Inc. Hartman has assisted in the implementation of large scale HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs in Africa, helped many of America’s premier health systems reach ambitious strategic and operational goals, and worked in grassroots international development projects. Hartman received his Master of Business Administration degree from the Yale School of Management and his bachelor’s in philosophy from Stanford University.

I have met Tim and I think Peace Corps Botswana is in very good hands.
